Copiapoa tenebrosa (B).JPG Copiapoa tenebrosa392 viewsCopiapoa tenebrosa grown from habitat seed, from high up in the hills
on the 'South Side' of the San Ramon Valley, Taltal.
Seed was collected from a spineless plant,
however, very few plants grow totally spineless, this one didn't,
although the spines are still very needle thin like.

lophophora jourdaniana - pink filament 01.JPG Lophophora Jourdaniana - Unique Carmine Filaments270 viewsA close up of a Jourdaniana flower.
Note the curious carmine filaments. I have not observed coloured filaments in any other species / forms of Lophophora and no published works I have encountered have mentioned this in their descriptions.

lophophora diffusa - white fowers - yellow pollen 01.JPG Lophophora Diffusa - White Flowers249 viewsThis is a white as they get. Some sources state that the flowers can be yellowish or cream.
I hope these photos show clearly that the apparent yellowishness is the result the pollen reflecting in the throat of the flowers.
