2015 Preview - Please Email Mark Faint to make additions
6-8 March

The 48th Northern Weekend will be held at Alston Hall near Preston in Lancashire over the weekend of 6th - 8th March 2015.

Speakers for the weekend will each give 2 lectures and are: Ulrich Haage, who will talk about "Kakteen Haage: A history of the world's Oldest Cactus Nursery" and "Cacti: - How we grow them: Today - and a hundred years ago". Brendan Burke "Snow Rain and Penguins" and "South America: - The Highs and the Lows" , John Ellis "Arizona Revisited" and "Greenhouse Photography" and Suzanne Mace "Succulents - There is life after Mesembs!" and "Lithops and Conophytums - why are they still so popular?". Ulrich Haage will be speaking to us for the first time. Ulrich is a member of the Haage family who have run a cactus nursery in Erfurt in Germany for many generations. He is planning to restore an old movie of the nursery from the 1920's which has never been seen outside the family and is hoping to show parts of this movie to us if possible during one of his talks. Other first time speakers are Brendan Burke and John Ellis. We are pleased to see the return of Suzanne Mace. Suzanne has spoken to us before so we look forward to seeing her again at Alston Hall.

We always like to give our speakers a warm Lancashire welcome and we thank them for agreeing to come and make our weekend such a special event.

There will be sales of plants and seeds, books, and pots and sundries.

Booking started in July this year, but there may be some places still available. Come and join us!
